The redesign of Lang Plaza and associated entrance upgrades to MacDonald Hall formed a physical and visual terminus to Wineguard walk as the University of Guelphs central pedestrian spine.

Lang Plaza and MacDonald Hall become a strong focal point within the campus; where new contemporary design of both landscape and architectural elements tastefully contrasted with the original building and symbolic details to highlight and strengthen the heritage significance of MacDonald Hall.
